Home » General NewsFirst Round - The Overhills JaguarsOctober 27, 2012 By Josh Cranfill of Western Alamance High SchoolAfter a hard fought game against the Nighthawks of Northern Guilford to end the regular season, the Warriors enter the playoffs playing their best football of the season. Even though the Warriors took the 28-14 loss, they played the #1 3A team in the state very tough and gained much valuable confidence going forward in the pursuit for a State Championship. It won’t be easy, as the Warriors will be a #6 seed and will likely play all their games on the road. The scouting report on the Jaguars looks to be run heavy as they average 185.6 yards/game on the ground (68% of offence) and only 87.1 yards/game through the air (32% of offence). The Jaguars are also averaging 29.3 points/game. Overhills is led by Senior QB #7 D. Karrs, who has 784 yards on the season with 14 TDs and 6 INTs. As stated before, the rushing game are the Jaguars bread and butter as they amassed 1670 yards on 334 carries on year, using 12 different running backs to do so. The running attack is led by Senior RB #28 L. Bullock, who has 688 yards on 118 carries while tallying 9 TDs. The Jaguars defense of the Jaguars led their conference with the fewest points allowed with 154 and are led by a collective group of ball hawks who have 7 players with 50+ tackles on the year. Senior #43 R. Johnson leads the team with 79 total tackles and 8.8 tackles/game. Overhills’ JR #12 M. King is 5th in the conference with 3 INTs. However, pressure on the quarterback may be a weakness as the Jaguars only have a combined 7 sacks on the year. 2495 Ray Road Spring Lake, NC 28390
