Alamance in second placeOctober 23, 2012 By Paul Thompson of Western Alamance High SchoolPublished: Monday, October 22, 2012 at 23:51 PM.When going through pregame Senior Night announcements, a popular theme for best soccer memory for members of the Williams High School boys’ team tended to be defeating Western Alamance. But sure, the Bulldogs didn’t do Western Alamance any favors Monday night either. Northern Guilford topped fourth-place Williams 3-1 at Burlington Memorial Stadium, securing the Mid-State 3-A Conference championship. The outcome meant that second-place Western Alamance’s 5-0 victory at Eden Morehead wasn’t enough to displace Northern Guilford atop the standings. WESTERN ALAMANCE 5, EDEN MOREHEAD 0: At Eden, Western Alamance blanked host Eden Morehead to secure second place in the Mid-State 3-A Conference. Jackson Lilly, Pieter Van Zyl, Jamie Nahkle and Cody Schultz each scored first half goals and the Warriors (14-1-3, 10-1-3). Lilly added another goal at in the 47th minute for the final margin.
