WA Softball vs EG (4/17/12)

At Elon, the Lady Warriors picked up their 10th conference win of the season this afternoon defeating the Lady Wildcats from Eastern Guilford by the score of 13 to 2 in a game shortened to 5 innings.

Jessica Griffin picked up the win on the mound, striking out 6 EG batters and allowing only 4 hits.  WA's defense was solid once more, commiting no errors in the field.

The Lady Warriors scored their 13 runs off of 10 team hits and 6 EG errors.

Offensive highlights included:  Peyton Hyler 1-3, 2 runs; Kendall McKinney 1-3, 1 BB, 1 run, 1 RBI; Christina Walker 1-2, 1 BB, 2 runs; Madison Bell 2-3, 2 runs, 2 RBI; Jessica Griffin 1-3, 1 BB, 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 SB; Samantha Byrd 0-2; Sydney Brooks 2-3, 1 BB, 1 run, 2 RBI; Kelsey Akers 2-3, 1 run, 5 RBI; Merritt Wilkinson 1-4, 2 SB; Kelsey Rice and Mallory Strange scored 1 run and 2 runs respectively as 'courtesy runners'.

Today's win improves the Lady Warriors overall record to 13-2 and 10-1 in Mid-State 3A.

JV score: WA 12, EG 1 (Overall record 9-5, Mid-State 3A 6-3)
