Henderson State's Krystal Beachum was named Great American Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
In two games, Beachum averaged 37.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and totaled 8 assists.
In Henderson's double-overtime win against Southwestern Oklahoma, Beachum set a HSU and GAC single-game scoring record with 41 points. In the game against the Lady Bulldogs, Beachum was 15-of-29 from the field and 9-of-13 from the foul line.
Kathy Comeaux held the previous HSU record of 39 points set on January 4, 1994 against Texas A&M Commerce, while the previous GAC record was also 39 points by Natalia Santos of Arkansas Tech on Nov. 26, 2011 against St. Edward's.
Less than 48 hours later, the senior from Mexia, Texas recorded a double-double against Northwestern Oklahoma totaling 33 points and 11 rebounds. Beachum hit 12-of-18 field goals and converted on 9-of-11 free throws.
In her three years at Henderson, Beachum has totaled 990 points and needs just 10 points to become only the ninth player in Henderson State history to score 1000 points in a career.
The Lady Reddies will face Ouachita Baptist on Thursday at Vining Arena with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
