Home » Football NewsVYPE's Bold Predictions: Class 5A Division INovember 14, 2012 By Matt Malatesta of VYPE MAGAZINE - West HoustonVYPE's BOLD PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS CLASS 5A Division I Playoffs.
REGION III
Cy Falls vs Elsik: Cy Falls is the Class of District 17-5A. They are athletic and loaded with talent. They are also deep. RB Bryce Peters is a talent and Jacobi Hunter is a load in the middle of the defense. Too much for Elsik, who is pretty thin on both sides of the ball. Falls wins.
Cinco Ranch vs Bellaire: This is the last go-around for Cinco RB Jamel James. The Notre Dame-commit should dominate the Cards. Bellaire is also loaded with athletes, but it would be a shock if the HISD school knocks off the Katy ISD squad. Cinco wins.
North Shore vs Dobie: North Shore needs to use this game to be a little more diverse in their offense for later in the playoff season. Mustangs are nasty on defense and need to stay healthy. North Shore wins.
Austin vs Clear Brook: FB Austin is having a memorable season, but can they extend to the second-round? The Bulldogs should get the win.
Cy Fair vs Alief Taylor: Lions' are studs, but their QB is young. They have Tre Johnson at RB who is a load, but will it be enough. The QB play will be the difference. Cy Fair wins with patient running game and solid defense.
Lamar vs Seven Lakes: The Spartans had a play-in game against Morton Ranch and won in overtime. Congrats to new coach Lydell Wilson and his staff. Lamar on the other hand Lamar is old hat at the playoff thing under Tom Nolen. Hmmm. Colbert is great at Lamar and should be enough to get by Seven Lakes. Lamar Wins.
Pearland vs Deer Park: The Oilers are great on defense but shaky on offense. Pearland should be able to get by Deer Park, who has struggled this season. Pearland gets the win, but will have a tough one in the next round.
Clear Springs vs Travis: The Chargers have it going on offense with their offense and Zach Cripps and his bevy of WRs. After a slow start, Clear Springs got their spark back and have dominated the district, en route to a championship. WHEN they knock off Travis, they will face old district foes Pearland in Round 2.
REGION II
Klein Collins vs The Woodlands: Tough one here. I've seen both schools play. Both defenses are not what they have been in years' past. Both offenses are decent and similar. Both have good offensive lines led by a pair of DIs. Two good running backs. Tough call. We go Klein Collins due to the revenge factor from last year. And they play at home.
Westfield vs Conroe: Conroe slips into the playoffs and Westfield gets up by half time and rests their starters. Westfield big.
