VYPE Boys' Top 20 -- No. 3 Bush Broncos

No. 3 Bush Broncos

Bush Looking to Run…

After going 29-6 a year ago, the Fort Bend Bush Bronco team is back on the court ready to make another run. And know that literally, we do mean run.

“I like our athleticism. We are not that big, but we are very athletic,” Bush coach Ronnie Courtney said. “With the lineup we have, we will have the opportunity to play more up tempo.”

As far as getting out running, this will likely start, and sometimes finish with a player like senior point guard ShawnDre’ Jones. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound point guard is one of the key pieces to the Bush team. And he will be an asset on the next level as well seeing that he committed to play basketball for Richmond in early October.

“He (ShawnDre’) has had a tremendous summer and offseason. He’s a good guy to have on the floor,” Courtney said.

There are a few others who will be beneficial as well starting with No. 2 guard Kelly Oubre, another player who will be expected to make plays. Oubre will be a highly-coveted 2014 college prospect, standing 6-foot-5 on the perimeter. Courtney also mentioned a move-in who should be a good one in Brandon Jones, and his brother Josh. They came from Westbury Christian.

As for a few of his other returning players, it may take a few more weeks. Dominique Rogers, the Broncos’ senior running back at 5-foot-11 will be in the lineup, along with the Monroe Twins, Ronald and Donald Monroe. Both will be juniors this season.

Courtney was also excited to see one his players return. Jones, who has made his way back to Bush after some years at Westbury Christian, is back on the Bush team for his senior season. Joshua Jones, Jalin LeBlanc, Ladarious Johnson, Eden Ewing, Charles Grace, Brendon Ganaway, Travis Downing and Myles Rice should all be solid contributors in 2012 as well.
