Morton Ranch Win Over Cinco Ranch in OT

First Time Mavericks defeat Cinco Ranch in School History

Morton Ranch defeats Cinco Ranch 38-35 in overtime.

VYPE: This win marks the first time Morton Ranch has defeated Cinco Ranch. Is that correct?

Dave Meadows:  “It was big for us because it is the first time Morton ranch ever beat Cinco Ranch. You know, our heritage as one of the under level teams in the district, we are trying to overcome that and get up with the big boys. And to do that, we have to beat teams like Cinco and teams like Memorial next week. We’re pleased and it was tough, but if you are going to be a good team, you have to win games like that.”

VYPE: After Cinco Ranch got the touchdown in the end zone off of the tipped pass, it looked as though that may be it for you guys. How did you rally back for the win?

Dave Meadows:  “Part of being a winner is you have to have a plan, our plan is always that we know that when two good teams are playing that bad things are going to happen, but also good things are going to happen. And what’s important is what do you do now? How do you handle after those things happen? For our guys, they had a plan. They didn’t know if it would work, but they had a plan. Thank goodness it worked.”

VYPE: Fourth and 20 and back up in your own end zone, take us back through the emotional ride with that play that led to a 96-yard touchdown.

Dave Meadows:  “Well all of the breakout touchdowns are all emotional rides. We have had several this year and with the kind of offense we run and the kind of personnel we have, those are going to happen sometimes. You’re usually ready for one about 10 plays before it happens. So when it happens, you just take a deep breath and say let’s get the next one.”

Final Thoughts.

Dave Meadows:  “I’m very proud of our team. Our guys on the field and on the sideline, it took every one of them. Everyone helped believe and the guys made plays. That’s the ingredient for success. We are not going to get too excited here because we have another mountain to climb next week (game against Memorial).”
