Houston's Best to be Honored at TD Club Preseason Awards Dinner

The Touchdown Club will honor Houston's top senior football players at the Touchdowner of the Year Dinner August 15th at the JW Marriott.

Houston Texans owner Robert McNair has been named the winner of the 47^th Annual Touchdowner of the Year by the Touchdown Club of Houston. The Touchdowner is given annually for extra ordinary contributions and outstanding achievements reflecting honor and sportsmanship to football over a lengthy period of time. Past winners are an all-star list that include Chris Gilbert, Kyle Rote, Darrell Royal, DeLoss Dodds, R.C. Slocum, Ken Hatfield, Tom Landry, Earl Campbell, Jerry LeVias, Jack Pardee, Eddie Joseph, Bear Bryant, Mack Brown, Dave Campbell, Spike Dykes and Bobby Layne. All previous winners are invited to attend this year's event.

The 2012 preseason UIL All-Greater Houston High School Football Team will also be presented. The recipients include:

The gala is at 7 p.m., Wed., Aug. 15, at the JW Marriott Liberty Hall. Speaking on behalf of Bob will be Houston Texans President Jamey Rootes, thoroughbred manager, owner and breeder John Adger; and Walter E. Johnson, chairman of Amegy Bank of Texas.

Tickets are $45 each. Tables are 10 seats each, and cost $450 (regular table sponsor), $500 (bronze sponsorship), $1,000 (silver sponsorship), $1,500 (gold sponsorship) and $2,500 (platinum sponsorship). Premium table sponsors will have their names in the paper program, and will sit on the first few rows.
