Cutline: Alfred Pullom, Nate German and Deoundrei Davis are the Big Cats at Cy Woods.
Cypress Woods had built something special under the direction of coach David Jones. Several nice playoff runs in the short history of the school, a great fan base and athletes who had bought into his system.
That's what made his departure to Kerrville Tivy High School so surprising. Enter Cy Creek defensive coordinator Trent Faith, who has taken over for Jones, to keep the success rolling along at Cypress Woods.
His hiring and philosophy may shore up the Wildcat defense seeing that Cy Woods has one of the most explosive offenses in the city of Houston.
Coach Faith will also have some serious pieces to play with. Stealth linebacker Deoundrei Davis will lead the defense pressuring the quarterback at a feverish pace. The 6-foot-3 Texas-commit can be used with his hand down as an end or run freely in space. His versatility will give opposing offenses fits. So will safety Alfred Pullom (6-foot-1), who will protect against the deep ball. Pullom is equally as athletic and also plays on the Wildcat basketball team.
Offensive genius Curtis Neill is back to coordinate the offense and will turn the keys over to Rice-commit Nate German to run his high-powered unit.
"Coach Neill is a genius and I'm so excited to be running the show this year," German said. "You have to able to run and throw and I can do both, so we are expecting big things."
German's main targets will be Chase Regusa, Sam Stewart and Trent Holmes. Both Stewart and Holmes have been offered as juniors-to-be.
#threepointstance The enthusiasm that former coach David Jones brought was infectious and the 212-Degree mantra needs to stay in place. Nate German must perform in a tough district as the new QB1 and an improved defense could make the Wildcats pretty salty come playoff time.
