Langham Creek Lobos

Feist is Back Ready for Playoff Run

Head Coach: Todd Thompson

Overall 2011 Record: 6-5

Postseason: Fell to Alief Taylor in First Round

By Matt Malatesta

Cutline: Langham Creek's dog pound is led by Jeremy Land and Kenneth Thompson.

Langham Creek's all-time leading passer Connor Feist is back for his senior season. Just barely. Feist, who has been the city's leading passer the last two seasons, played part of the season with a fractured vertebrae, and still threw for nearly 3,000 yards.

Feist is a gamer.

He led the Lobos to a playoff appearance, and now that the dogs have a taste they want to go back this season. But Langham Creek must have Feist back in the pack to have a shot.

"I've been cleared to play but I missed all of offseason and spring football," he said. "It has given me a different perspective on the game. It's more of a coaching perspective, because I've been watching and listening to what the coaches want me to do to in certain situations. But I'm ready to get back on the field with my teammates. It's been killing me."

With Feist back, his favorite targets Caleb Hobbs and Dominique Harris will be as productive as ever. Throw in outside receiver Jiuba Eke and an offensive line led by Kenneth Thompson, and the Lobo offense will be off and running.

"It's going to be a crash course in fall practices, getting my timing down with my receivers but we'll be fine," he said. "I've been playing with Caleb and Dominique since we were eight-year-olds."

Each line of the Lobo defense also has a standout in nose guard D.J. Collins, linebacker Jalen Morris and defensive back Jeremy Land.

Everything rests on quarterback Connor Feist's back. He has a lot to play for this season, including a college scholarship. Losing Dylan Humphrey to graduation hurts, but bowling ball Jeremiah Williams will fill in nicely. But the true tale of the tape is the defense. Langham Creek must show some teeth on defense to get one of the four coveted playoff spots.
