The 2012 school year is over and the pressure from coaches, parents, teachers and peers lighten up for the next 80 days or so. But the clock is ticking.  VYPE lays out your summer philosophy, which was made famous by the cast of Jersey Shore. Kind of. The reality TV posse made up of The Situation, Snooki, Pauly D, JWoww, Sammi, Vinny and Dina made "GTL" a household word. GYM, TAN and LAUNDRY.  In no way is VYPE endorsing their crazy lifestyle, so we have come up with our own version of "GTL" to live by this summer.  GYM -- Athletes especially. Get to a gym, do speed and strength camps and train on your own. Don't get outworked this summer, because kids across Houston are battling to be the next big thing and grace the pages of future VYPE Magazines. If you aren't improving in the areas of speed, strength or skill, you are going to get passed up.  TRAVEL -- Get out of your comfort zone, whether it be your neighborhood or suburb. Broaden your horizons and see what people are doing either across town or across the globe. It gives you a different perspective and the opportunity is priceless. Be social this summer. Make some new friends and be approachable. Hang with people with completely different interests.  LOUNGE -- I can't believe I'm going to say this being a parent of teenagers, but take some down time. Get your chores done, but hang with friends, play video games, watch some mindless television and chill. Sleep, nap and relax. It so healthy to workout, eat right and rest. Repeat this process.  I'm no doctor, psychologist or reality television star, but the summer can be the most important part of your entire year. It's when you eat, chill and grow physically and mentally. In the meantime, get ready for the 2012 VYPE Football Preview in July and our Volleyball Preview in August.  Have Fun and We Will See You at the Pool, Matt Malatesta, Co-Publisher matt@ourfieldhouse.com
