Home » Football NewsAddison Ready to Compete at OregonApril 10, 2012 VYPE MAGAZINE - West HoustonAddison Ready to Compete at UO Ahmard Vital  Fans from Oregon and Texas A&M sat with a great deal of anticipation this past February awaiting to hear what Hightower athlete Bralon Addison was going to do in regards to his future, deciding where he would play college football. It was early in the morning on National Signing Day as fans, media and family members waited in the Hightower auditorium for what the final word would be.  Then he made the statement that hit internet social networking sites like an event that held national implications.  “Oregon†is the place he chose to play ball. And so it begins. Now, with many weeks behind him, what are his thoughts now?  “I know I made the right decision. The process was great, but at times it was frustrating,†Addison said. “Some of the coaches were great and understanding, but others were quite demanding. Sometimes, I think that they forget that you are still a kid. At times there was a lot of pressure.† But in the end, Addison handled it all as best as any teenager would. He even made s statement via Twitter asking fans to please stop with the harassment that came his way continually, especially during the 48 hours prior to National Signing Day.  Now, a new day is here and life as an Oregon athlete has begun for Addison. And now is the time that he must get ready for major Division I college football.  “I have been working out Monday-Thursday every week. I mainly work on my speed and power,†Addison said. “I look over all of the material that Oregon has sent me and I want to know everything I can. The guys who are down there have been working the system for sometime so I feel I need to get familiar with all the workouts and the offense. I’m just getting prepared and ready to play.† With that said, it is likely that Addison could see time as a true freshman. Of course at Hightower he was the team’s quarterback and for the most part Oregon will line him up as a slot receiver.  Or will they?  “(Oregon) Coach Chip Kelly likes to get the ball in the hands of playmakers. That is one thing that I like about the way he runs the offense,†Addison said. “He (Kelly) can put together lots of plays to get me and the other playmakers touches. He will put me in the best position to help the team win by using my speed and athleticism.† Another factor that bodes well for Addison is the fact that being from Texas, and Houston for that matter, he will not be alone. Just from this class, fellow rival and also close friend from Elkins, wide receiver Chance Allen will be down there. And of course, former Nimitz player (an athlete whom many compare Addison to) in Josh Huff is on the roster as well.  “There are some good guys from the H (Houston) down there, plus other guys from Texas and all over the country. I can’t wait to get down there and get on campus,†Addison said.
