Marshall defensive end Deon Hollins has been a hot commodity the past few weeks. Hollins is a 6-foot-3 athlete who has picked up offers from Nebraska, Arkansas, Duke, Stanford, Texas Tech and Tulsa. He will anchor Marshall's defensive with his speed and athleticism.
Pearland Dawson running back James White has also picked up several verbal offers to include Auburn, Baylor, Texas Tech, Michigan State and Northwestern. White is a physical back who can run between the tackles.
Another south Houston athlete to look out for in 2013 is Pearland linebacker John Gibberman, who stands 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. Gibberman also doubles as a fullback.
Eagles Flying the Coup
Pearland Dawson had a successful season and a few of the Eagles are being recruited late in the process. Quarterback Garry Kimble holds an offer from Weber State and coach John L. Williams. Jarell Crenshaw starred at defensive back has offers from Sam Houston and Grambling. Receiver Mike Williams has an offer from Army. Safety Haywood Jeffires has offers from Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin and Weber State.
Karam; Walker Make Moves
Friendswood's Jacob Karam, formerly of Texas Tech, graduated in two-and-a-half years making him eligible to play Division I football next season. Karam will play for the University of Memphis the next two years for the Tigers.
Karam cites new coach Justin Fuente, formerly of TCU, as the reason he chose Memphis. Fuente mentored Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals. Changing the culture of the Memphis program was also a factor. He will be taking graduate classes the next two years.
Also making a move is former Westfield quarterback Jacoby Walker (Arkansas), who is transferring to Central Arkansas.
