When the excitement and dust had settled, St. Xavier had claimed the team title edging 2012 champs Campbell County, 203.5 to 193. Union County finished third with 176 points. This was the Tigers third state title having won in 1998 and 2001. St. Xavier placed six wrestlers in the 14 title matches. Other VYPE Schools finished in the top 20. In 6th place- Trinity, 8th-Oldham County, 11th- Moore, 12th- Southern, 16th-John Hardin and in 20th place- Fern Creek. Of the 14 weight classes, 5 were won by VYPE schools. At 106 lbs, Fern Creek's Jorge Vega was champion. At 145 lbs, Justin Lampe of St. X took the crown. Tiger teammate Gabriel French won at 160 lbs. At 195 lbs, Thomas Noe of Southern was best, and at 235 lbs, Trinity's Bobby Bryant was champion. Gabriel French (St. X) was named the Orville Williams Outstanding Wrestler and Tiger coach James Kraezig was named Coach of the Year.
