The award will be formally presented on December 19, 2012. Quick finished his career as a Shamrock as the all time leading receiver in Kentucky history with 280 catches. He is a three letter athlete (football, basketball & track), holding the state record in the 200 meter dash. He is Kentucky's only player to have ever been a part of a state football and basketball championship team in the same year. He will participate in the January 5, 2013, ARMY All American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, where his coach Bob Beatty will have a chance (as head coach of the East squad) to call his number one last time. James has been highly recruited for college but has made no decision to date. That announcement may come during the All Star game.
