Bowling Green Country Club hosted the 2012 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Tournament October 1st – 3rd. The Valkyries won their seventh overall state title with a total of 636 points. Members of the SHA state team, including Rachel Gathof, Maddie Hamilton, Gabrielle Miller, Meredith Moir and Katie Page, along with seventh-year coach Leslie Bender were congratulated with a school pep rally on October 5th. Anna Hack, a sophomore at Calloway County, was the tournament individual medalist, tallying 142 points for the two-day tournament, four shots ahead of North Hardin senior Lydia Gumm. Hack is the first girl to win an individual golf championship for Calloway County High School. The Calloway County team came in as runner up to SHA. Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Olivia Senter received the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac academic scholarship. Mercy’s Chau Tran won the Forcht Group of Kentucky Uncommon Excellence Award. Boyle County’s Rachel Pingleton was awarded the Kentucky National Guard Best and Brightest Award.
