Home » Girls' Softball NewsSoftball Regional Champs Compete for State TitleJune 4, 2012 By George Nunnelley of VYPE MAGAZINE - Greater LouisvilleLouisville-area softball teams Bullitt East, Mercy and Oldham County were crowned regional champions after last week's impressive play. They will go on to Owensboro, Ky. to compete for the State Championship at Jack C. Fisher Park. Recapping the regional tournaments, Bullitt East won the 6th Region by defeating Presentation (15-0), Holy Cross (10-6) and Butler (8-2). They will match up with Mercy in the first round of the State Tournament on June 7. Seventh Region champion Mercy won their tournament by defeating Fern Creek (5-0), Eastern (10-3) and Ballard (6-1), and as stated before, will play Bullitt East in the State Tournament's first round. Lastly, Oldham County won the 8th Region by defeating Owen County (10-0), Anderson County (8-1) and Walton-Verona (6-2). They will advance to Owensboro to play Boyle County in the State Tournament's first round. Again, good luck to all these girls and get out to Owensboro's Jack C. Fisher Park later this week to show them your support in the Rawlings/KHSAA Softball State Tournament.
