The 2012 KHSAA State Tennis Championship was held last weekend in Lexington, Ky. Individual and team competitors from all over the state gathered at the University of Kentucky's Boone/Downing Tennis Park, with a great deal of the weekend's success coming from the Louisville-area participants.

In the boys' tournament, the singles final was a duel between St. Xavier's Sean Donohue and Alex Gornet, with Donohue ultimately being crowned champion. In the doubles finals, Kentucky Country Day's Collier Bouchillon and Matt Browne defeated Trinity's Randy Strause and Emerson Walsh for the title. Both duos had previously defeated St. Xavier competitors in the semi-final round. However, at the end of the day, St. X was awarded the overall team championship for the fourth consecutive season.

In the girls' tournament, Ellie Gerlach of Christian Academy made a run for the individual title, but was knocked out in the semi-finals by Kennedy Womack of Rose Hill by a score of 6-2, 6-3. in doubles competition, Sacred Heart's Katherine English and Caitlin Hanley were crowned champions for the second year in a row, defeating Alyssa Kennnedy and Catriona Shaughnessy of Notre Dame in the finals. Lone Oak won the team title for the girls' tournament.
