Home » Athletics News5th Annual Pink and White GameMay 23, 2012 By George Nunnelley of VYPE MAGAZINE - Greater LouisvilleA sold-out crowd gathered at Trinity’s Marshall Stadium on April 27 to watch Sacred Heart and Assumption match up in the 5th Annual Pink and White Game, and they were not to be disappointed. The game was competitive and entertaining enough, but if that alone did not do it for you, then the halftime dance off between St. X and Trinity most definitely did. Assumption took a 12-6 lead into halftime and the fireworks only picked up form there. It was a back-and-forth battle for the remainder of the game. With three lead changes in the second half, the matchup came down to the final seconds of the game. Down 19-14 in the waning moments, Sacred Heart capped off a drive with a go-ahead touchdown and under a minute to play. However, as Assumption received the ensuing kickoff, controversy struck as the clock ran out while coaches argued with the referees about how many timeouts remained. Sacred Heart was awarded the 20-19 victory, but the real winner was the Norton Cancer Institute Breast Health Program who received more than $89,000 in fundraising.
