Katy’s Joseph honored as national coach of the year

Even though he was named the best high school football coach in the country, Katy's Gary Joseph knows it took a lot more than him to make the Tigers as good as they were this season.

And the Tigers were good — maybe even the best they've been.

Joseph was named the American Football Monthly's high school football National Coach of the Year. The honor comes just a few short weeks after he led Katy to the Class 5A Division II state championship, the program's seventh title and third since 2007.
