HOUSTON: Every so often a story comes along so powerful that it can make a difference in people's lives that don't even follow sports. That's the case with this month's magazine. Atascocita hooper Nick Mason is a 6-foot-5 freshman starting on one of the top Class 5A schools in Houston. His father played professional ball and he projects to be a major college recruit in three years.
You've heard this story before right? Nick Mason battles Asperger's Syndrome, an autism spectrum condition, which makes this story so powerful. This is a story about overcoming obstacles as a family unit, coaching staff and community.
In this month's issue, VYPE also recaps the state championship weekend as Katy and Lamar led the way for the Houston-area over the holidays.
Because we pride ourselves on being ahead of the curve, VYPE releases its first-ever Lacrosse Preview for Boys and Girls.
So You Think You Can Dance? Houston does. VYPE estimates over 10,000 high school girls participate in school dance and competitive dance companies, who are preparing for the competition season this spring. Good luck girls.
Special thanks to our great photographers, writers and sponsors for another great issue.
