Nike has hosted the national competition, known as NXN, near their corporate headquarters in Portland, Oregon, since 2004. The only other national competition for high school cross country is hosted by Foot Locker. It was started in 1979 and was formerly known as the Kinney Cross Country Championships. While the NXN competition features teams and individuals, the Foot Locker competition highlights individuals only, with four regional races to determine the final forty qualifiers. The Foot Locker South regional competition will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, next weekend. Foot Locker Nationals will be in San Diego, California, December 8th.
