Former Southlake Carroll quarterback Riley Dodge will become an assistant at Austin Westlake for next season, according to his dad, newly named Marble Falls coach Todd Dodge. Riley is completing his degree at McNeese (La.) State and is expected to join the staff of Westlake coach Darren Allman. After VYPDEDFW.com reported Dodge has accepted a position, a spokesperson for the Eanes ISD for Westlake clarified that no official position has been posted or filled.
Pending the ISD’s future approval, Riley will coach football and teach history. In addition, to his dad’s football success Riley’s mother is a longtime teacher as well. Dodge said he talked with Riley about joining Dodge’s staff at Marble Falls but they opted for him to start a career working with top staffs to gain more experience.
“Riley got his resume together in December and got a number of good offers without one call from me,” Todd Dodge said. “He played for Coach Allman in the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star game and so he’s got a relationship. Of course, I know Coach Allman from some (Carroll) games against Odessa Permian and just through coaching in Texas. That’s a great staff for Riley to get a start with.”

Riley Dodge was a two-time Class 5A offensive player of the year while being part of his dad’s high school dynsasty. Todd Dodge was hired by the University of North Texas but stayed only three-plus years while compiling a 6-37 while trying to rebuild the program. Dodge coached last season at Pittsburgh under Todd.
