The Aggies' new head coach is also continuing to pursue an area quarterback prospect despite landing a commitment from another top passer. A&M has already hosted a Junior Day for prospective recruits for the Class of '13. Former coach Mike Sherman had extended scholarship offers last spring and summer but Sumlin appears likely to try and keep the Aggies' early commits. Sumlin's quarterback commitments could run deep. Sumlin is recruiting Southlake Carroll QB Kenny Hill after receiving a commitment from Houston St. Pius' Khol Stewart. Hill is more a dual-threat to run or pass than Stewart. A&M's other early commits are Baytown Sterling WR Jamar Gibson, Elysian Fields DT Isaiah Golden, Rosenberg Terry WR Derrick Griffin and A&M Consolidated DE Christian Lacouture.
