Lewisville's upset of Coll. Heritage tops bi-district openers

Lewisville’s upset win over Colleyville Heritage, and Frisco Heritage’s historic win over Highland Park topped Monday night’s slate of UIL girls basketball bi-district playoff games.

Lewisville, which struggled to a 5-24 regular-season record due in part to injuries to key players, shocked Heritage, 37-34, ending the District 6-5A champions’ year with a record of 25-11.

TCU signee Jada Butts led the Farmerettes with 10 points, and Monisha Neal added nine.

Lewisville moves on to play Mansfield Timberview, a 57-40 winner over Temple Monday night, in the 5A area round.

Frisco Heritage won the first playoff game of the school’s 4-year existence in ending Highland Park’s year, 49-44, in a 4A bi-district playoff. Heritage (22-10) next plays the winner of Tuesday’s Carter-Hillcrest game.

Senior Brikjai Chaney led Heritage with 22 points.
