Home » Football NewsReports: Chip Kelly's exit upsets DeSoto RB Dontre WilsonJanuary 16, 2013 By Tim Polzer of VYPE MAGAZINE - DFWChip Kelly’s departure from Oregon to become head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles is causing tremors throughout the world of VYPE DFW football recruits including DeSoto running back and Oregon commit Dontre Wilson, according to reports. Kelly visited DeSoto on Tuesday, the day before his hiring by the Eagles, going so far as to telling Wilson and his father, Don, that Ducks coaches had already worked the nationally ranked recruit into next year’s offense, according to Corbett Smith of The Dallas Morning News. Wilson, rated the area’s No. 2 2013 football recruit by VYPE DFW, committed to the Ducks in May 2012. The Wilsons were left stunned by Kelly’s exit, and are planning to take several official visits to schools that previously offered him possibly including Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma State. “He’s not a happy camper right now,” DeSoto coach Claude Mathis told the Morning News. “I think Dontre’s hurt a little bit, because since [Kelly] was here yesterday. Dontre thinks he should have said something.” “We’re not in a hurry,” Don Wilson said. “We made a promise to Chip that Dontre wouldn’t take any more visits once he committed. But that was to Chip. Now that he’s gone, that promise is kind of null and void.” Texas coaches reportedly visited DeSoto on Wednesday.
