Aledo wins trip to 4A state tournament

Aledo followed a semifinal win over No. 4 ranked Amarillo with a 25-16, 25-11, 25-9 sweep of Duman to win the Region I finals in Abilene.

Aledo (40-5) will play Friendswood (42-4) in a 4A state semifinal match, at 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. It will be the Ladycats first state tournament appearance since 2001.

Aledo was led by Briana Sharratt's 14 kills. Sara Smith added 11 kills. Raygan McLelland had 9 kills.
