Martin RB/ATH Kyle Hicks commits to TexasFebruary 18, 2012 VYPE MAGAZINE - DFWBy David McNabb A standout junior season at Arlington Martin put running back Kyle Hicks on major college recruiting lists last December, on Saturday Hicks added himself to the list of Class of '13 commits to Texas. Hicks was one of less than a dozen invites to Texas' Junior Day last Sunday and decided less than a week after sitting in Longhorns coach Mack Brown's office receiving a formal scholarship offer to accept it. Hicks (5-11, 190) gained interest as a running back but he's projected as an athlete who could play several positions. He was a standout cornerback as a sophomore. Texas now has five commitments -- all from North Texas -- with Celina lineman Jake Raulerson, Jesuit receiver Jake Oliver, FW Arlington Heights lineman A'Shawn Robinson and Whitewright quarterback Tyrone Swoopes. Hicks had 1,667 yards and 26 touchdowns on 216 carries with 19 receptions for 236 yards and two scores as a junior. He's part of a talented core of athletes which helped Martin advance past powerhouse Euless Trinity with a regional quarterfinal victory on the Trojans' home field.
