Dane Johnson named Flower Mound head coach

Flower Mound named former Southlake Carroll and Texas Tech standout Dane Johnson as head football coach Monday night. Johnson replaces Cody Vanderford, who was reassigned being with the program Flower Mound when it opened 12 seasons ago.

Johnson has been head coach at Class 3A Boerne in Central Texas the last three years in his first coaching position. Johnson is considered a rising coaching star who learned under former SLC coach Bob Ledbetter and assistant Steve Lineweaver. The Johnson pedigree also includes a stint under Brian Brazil at Hebron, which won a 2005 state title with Johnson as a secondary coach for defensive coordinator Joe McBride.

Johnson was approved at a Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees meeting Monday night.
