Three DFW area players earn All-American honors

A trio of area players were named to the Baseball America's 2011 Postseason High School All-American team.

Jesuit center fielder Josh Bell and Rockwall-Heath junior pitcher/first baseman Jake Thompson were named to the first team. Both are Most Valuable Player finalists for the Greater Dallas All-VYPE baseball team.

Bell hit .552 with 14 home runs, 55 RBI and stole 19 bases. He was drafted by Pittsburgh with the first pick of the second round, but plans to play for the University of Texas.

Thompson, former All-VYPE Newcomer of the Year, was 12-3 with a 1.90 ERA and 131 strikeouts and batted .503 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI and scored 45 runs.1.90 ERA. He is committed to Nebraska.

Frisco Wakeland outfielder Ryan O'Hearn was selected to the second team. O'Hearn, District 9-4A offensive player of the year, batted .505 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI.
