Epstein, in preparation for this year’s Major League Baseball Draft, was spotted in the stands scouting Jesuit centerfielder Josh Bell play in the Rangers’ 5A Region II semifinal series against Klein Oak by Corbett Smith of The Dallas Morning News. Bell, who is projected to be a top-20 pick, entered the series batting .548 with 13 home runs, 54 RBI and 17 stolen bases. Bell gave Epstein something to think about slamming a home run over a 25-foot wall in centerfield. Asked if he was impressed with the clout, Epstein said, “If you like home runs to straight-away center field. Epstein was previously spotted by VYPE DFW’s David McNabb scouting Sherman right-handed hurler Kyle Crick in a playoff game against Longview Pine Tree.
