VYPE MAGAZINE - Dallas

VYPE contributor David McNabb reports that Lake Travis volleyball coach Julie Green has been hired for the same position at Coppell.

Green coached Lake Travis to the 2010 Class 4A state championship in November. She was 132-17 and earned two state tournament appearances in three seasons at Lake Travis.

Green's husband, Matt Gree,n is leaving his joba as Lake Travis football offensive coordinator to join her in Coppell. He is not said to be taking a job at Coppell HIgh, but rather in the private sector.

Green fills the void left by Sherri Hankins, who resigned as Coppell coach at the end of the 2010 season to accept an assistant principal job at Coppell High.

At Coppell, Hankins developed one of the state's top programs with two state tournament berths in her 23 years. She was a pioneer in Dig for the Cure cancer fundraising and education with the Susas G. Komen Foundation. Coppell raised more than $14,000 at this year's event, has raised more than $60,000 in the last four years and helped dozens of other North Texas programs host similar events.

Coppell went 31-11 last season before being eliminated in the first-round of the 5A state playoffs by eventual state champ Hebron.
