Lake Highlands 6-3, 300-pound offensive tackle Kent Perkins committed to Texas on Monday after a weekend visit. With a commitment from Lancaster De Daeshon Hall on Sunday, Texas now has 10 commitments for the Class of 2013.
Perkins has been playing with Lake Highlands’ varsity as a freshman. In January, Alabama coach Nick Saban visited Lake Highlands to talk to Wildcats coach Scott Smith. But Perkins probably have been a Texas commit two weeks ago but a family emergency caused a delay of Perkins’ unofficial to Texas until this past weekend. Perkins has always shown strong interest in Texas but did take an unofficial visit to Texas A&M.
