TCA-Addison hires Plano West's English

Long-time private school baseball power Trinity Christian Academy-Addison has hired Don English as its new head coach. English finished his first season as head coach at Plano West in May.

"They (TCA) have had a good program for a long time with a lit of great coaches," English said. "I hate to leave West after one year but this is a unique situation. I'll also be an assistant athletic director."

West had a 17-10 record last season under English. Prior to taking the West job, English had led Coppell to eight state playoff berths in nine years.

English is a leader in the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

TCA won the TAPPS District 1-5A title last season. TCA senior Reed Bastie signed with Oklahoma State this year and Jason Hursh was a 2011 signee at Oklahoma State. Veteran major league pitcher David Purcey led TCA to consecutive state titles in 1999 and 2000. TCA won it's last TAPPS state title in 2006.
