Home » Football NewsDodge out of running for Flower Mound job?January 6, 2012 VYPE MAGAZINE - 8-5ABy David McNabb Flower Mound – considered one of the top high school positions open – is closing in on a recommendation with some of Texas’ top coaching candidates – but none seem to be former Southlake Carroll coach Todd Dodge. Argyle coach Todd Rodgers, Sherman coach Gary Joe Kinne and Waco Midway coach Terry Gambill are among the candidates the Lewisville ISD has had interest. Dodge was an extremely obvious candidate with his North Texas ties but Dodge – who spoke with LISD officials – didn’t set up a finalist interview with LISD officials. Dodge is finishing his year as an assistant at the University of Pittsburgh but giving strong indications he’ll return to Texas for his next coaching gig. Flower Mound may yet end up with a Southlake Carroll tie. Former Carroll star and Texas Tech football player Dane Johnson is a strong candidate to have been brought in for a Flower Mound interview. Johnson currently coaches at Class 3A Boerne. Dodge will be with Pittsburgh during its season-ending Godaddy.com Bowl against SMU in Mobile, Ala. on Saturday. His future destinations are undetermined but narrowing. Class 4A Marble Falls has become a possibility with its proximity to Central Texas, where Dodge has a lot of family ties. Marble Falls moved Coach Cord Woerner into its district administrative office this week . Another Central Texas community, Burnet was a Dodge possibility but the school is replacing former Bulldogs coach Doyle Walker with 11-year defensive coordinator Kurt Jones according to The Highlander. As reported by VYPEDFW.com earlier this week, Dodge also is under consideration at College Station High. College Station will open with freshmen and sophomores in the fall.
