Home » Football NewsMoravia Football GameOctober 19, 2010 By Jared Jensen of Twin Cedars Jr Sr High SchoolBig plays for Moravia killed us all night long. A three and out punt on our first drive pinned Moravia deep in their territory. Moravia handed the ball off and scampered 76 yards for a touchdown. Missed tackles and speed hurt our team from the beginning of the game until the end. A fumble on our next series halted us from extending a drive that yielded two first downs. Moravia put a 30 play drive together for another Mohawk touchdown to make it 14-0. Again we went three and out on our next series. The second quarter we put a 10 play 69 yard touchdown drive. We really played well that drive. We threw the ball well and ran for some tough yards. On the next kickoff Moravia took it 78 yards for a TD. We went three and out on our next drive and had to punt. The snap was over our punters head who had to chase it and rugby kick it while getting tackled by two guys. The Mohawks were in great field position on the 25 yard line looking in. The Mohawks took the ball and in two play scored. The next Moravia possession they took the ball and in two plays executed a reverse for a 43 yard touchdown. Our offense stalled out again the rest of the half. Moravia put two more scores in on a 55 yard run and a 43 yard pass. At the end of the first half the score was 39-6. In about a five minute span the game went from 14-6 to 39-6. We were in the game until the kick return for a touchdown and then three more big plays on offense for the Mohawks. We were in the game but just could not physically tackle Moravia’s runners. The third quarter was started by a 68 yard kick return by Moravia because of the lack of tackling. We were in position but just could not bring the returner down. We got the ball back and put together an eight play drive landing us on Moravia’s 15 but could not punch it in. We stalled out and had to surrender the ball back to Moravia. Our defense stopped Moravia and forced them to punt deep in their end of the field. The snap went over the punters head who picked it up in the deep in the end zone and ran it back the length of the field for a touchdown making the score 51-6. In the fourth quarter we got the ball back after our defense held Moravia to a field goal attempt, which they missed. We took the ball and three plays later fumbled it back to Moravia. At that point they ran the clock out to end the game. We may have lost tonight but we saw a great effort form our guys all night long. We were just as physical up front as Moravia but they killed us with the speed of their backs. We were always a step behind their ball carriers. We had to many little mistakes and missed tackles. Giving up two touchdown on kick return and a bobbled punt ran back for a touchdown sums the night up. We fought hard and really never gave up the whole game. The guys continued to play hard and didn’t worry about the score. We as a coaching staff were really proud of tour team.
