Home » Football NewsEast Greene Football GameSeptember 29, 2010 By Jared Jensen of Twin Cedars Jr Sr High SchoolEasts Greene Hawks 40 Twin Cedars 22 Once agin it was a game of little mistakes turning into big plays. Giving up an option pitch for 60 yards for a touchdown followed by a ball intercepted off our receivers hands for a touchdown dug us in a whole real quick in the first quarter. Our defense held the Hawks to limited first downs only giving up 5, but giving up a few big plays here and there is what killed us. Little mistakes that we need to get sured up is what we need to focus on the rest of the season to be a contender in our district. Players playing assignment football instead of doing there own thing is also a focal point for our team. Offensively we have got to step up and start blocking until the whistle. Our blocking has been unacceptable up to this point in the season. We have to control the line of scrimmage and run the ball effectively to be a solid offensive team. We have been having to rely on our passing game to get us out of long distance downs which has not been very effective. It comes down to playing hard every down. We have been taking plays off which is what has been giving up a lot of long plays. There has been to many guys not playing hard from whistle to whistle which is very upsetting. It all coms down to effort and heart. Dustin Richards punted great not giving the Hawks any field position. On the bright side, we have been in both games this season. The second half we have just got to pick up the intensity and put together a solid half if we want to win. The District seem open up to this point with Moravia looking like the team to beat. The other seven teams are up in the air. Playing two tough teams off the bat will help us in District play. We have seen two solid football teams and know that we can play with them as long as we fix our mistake and play four quarters of football.
