RALEIGH - The Wakefield Wolverines advanced to the sectional round of the 4-A State playoffs after their second round, 86-64 victory over the Cary Imps.

With a seven-point lead late in the first half, the Wakefield (24-3) used a 12-3 run to end the first half and pull away from Cary (15-10).

Wakefield guard Xavier Saddler-Mee had a team-high 20 points, as four Wolverine players reached double-digit scoring, and two others had nine and eight points.

“I just played within the team,” said Saddler-Mee. “I did what coach told me to do. He told me when it was there, shoot it, or penetrate and dish.

The Imps were lead by Austin Brannen’s 21-point effort. Colton Lehman added 15 while Stephen Bajorek scored 11.
