CARY -- When it comes to conference play, Green Hope seniors Cassidey Sowards and Ashley Williams don’t know how to lose. They’ve got the numbers to back it up.
After a gritty 39-35 home win to knock off previously undefeated Holly Springs on Tuesday, the Falcons have won 60 straight games against Tri-9 Conference competition.
It is a streak that includes three 16-0 regular seasons, three runs to conference tournament championships, two regular-season games from this season and one state playoff matchup against a Tri-9 team last winter.

Sowards and Williams were in eighth grade the last time the Falcons (5-1, 2-0) lost to a conference team – the 2008 Tri-8 Conference tournament final.
Their roles have changed during that time, but now they’re vital leaders as was evident down the stretch Tuesday night.
