HILLSBOROUGH -- In front of a large crowd Saturday, Cary high school clinched the team championship and Jake De’Angelo won the most valuable wrestler at the Jim King/Orange Invitational Tournament. Cary finished with 231 points followed by Northwest Guilford with 223, and host Orange high school with 192.50.

The first weight class championship, 160 lbs, was clinched by Leesville Road’s CJ Kimmerly who won his match 6-4 over Orange’s Joe Scott.

Kimmerly, unable to participate last year due to injury, said he was pleased with his performance.

“It was a tough competition,” Kimmerly said. “It was a good tournament for me, I felt like I wrestled well.”
