Panther Creek’s girls finished runner-up in the 4A championships, and there is plenty of talent for other local schools to try to win it all this year. Girls’ swimming Five Tri-Nine schools finished in the top eight of last year’s 4A girls’ swimming state championships. Green Hope returns junior Hannah Moore, who won the 200 IM and 500 freestyle and was invited to the U.S. trials this summer. Apex, the 2010 state champions, returns a strong group of swimmers in junior Jordyn Barham and seniors Victoria Tschoke, Kathryn Williams and Sarah Henry. Boys’ swimming Cary (eighth) and Apex (10th) were the highest finishers in last year’s 4A state championships. Athens Drive senior Anthony Galante leads the way among boys’ swimmers and divers. Galante was runner-up in last year’s state meet. Green Hope’s Ryan Cade is a LSU recruit and ranked eighth among high school senior swimmers in North Carolina.
