SANFORD -- Fuquay-Varina rushed for 278 yards but watched as host Lee County scored 34 unanswered points to pull away with a convincing 37-14 victory in a Tri-9 Conference matchup on Friday.
The loss snapped Fuquay-Varina’s six-game winning streak against Lee, and dropped the Bengals to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Lee senior quarterback Chase Arrington threw for 142 yards, ran for 110 more and scored two touchdowns, while classmate James Foushee (19 rushes, 159 yards)

also found the end zone three times as the Yellow Jackets (3-1, 2-0) continued to score points in flurries this season.
Ultimately, the young Bengals were undone by four fumbles, which led to 17 Yellow Jacket points. Lee held F-V scoreless in the second half.
