APEX - Middle Creek’s prolific, multi-pronged attack overpowered Southern Durham Friday night, as the Mustangs rolled to a 41-26 win over the Spartans.

Mustangs quarterback David Salmon was 17-of-25 for 167 yards and four touchdowns. Eight different receivers caught a pass, with Jeff Sladeck, who had five catches for 66 yards and one touchdown and Curtis Burston, who had five catches for 60 yards and a touchdown leading the way.

Devone Johnson and Naylaan Lopez shredded the Spartans on the ground. Johnson had 154 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, and Lopez had 104 yards on 15 carries.

Middle Creek (2-0) punished Southern Durham (0-2) for a slew of miscues in the first half. After stuffing the Spartans at the goal line on three straight plays in the first quarter, Salmon completed a 31-yard pass from the back of his end zone, kick starting a 99-yard scoring drive. Salmon capped the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Demetrius Wilkins.
