Boys' soccer preview: teams rebuilding due to rule, graduation

A new rule put in place this year by U.S. Soccer will have a big impact this fall on area boys’ soccer teams – some more than others.
Any player competing for a U.S. Soccer Development Academy, which locally only means CASL’s Chelsea FC Academy, is now on a 10-month schedule; and the rule forbids players from playing for their high school teams.
As if the Tri-Nine Conference wasn’t already trying to replace several of its senior standouts from last year (there were 17 on the first and second teams) many of the would-be returners are now done with high school soccer.
