Home » Football NewsLockyer, Knox lead strong East defenseJuly 22, 2012 Tri-Nine Conference![]() GREENSBORO - Ja’Quil Capel tied an East-West All-Star game record for most points and touchdowns scored by a player, pacing the East squad to a convincing 35-9 victory in the annual N.C. Coaches Association football classic Wednesday night. Capel, a West Montgomery graduate, accounted for four of the East’s five rushing touchdowns on the night. He finished with 70 of the East squad’s 282 yards rushing. Capel split quarterback duties with Southern Durham’s Dorian Belcher. Belcher made the adjustment to the East’s under-center offensive attack from the shotgun spread he was used to at Southern Durham. “We ran the ball really well,” Belcher said. “Our line did a great job making holes, and our running backs were able to fill the holes. (Playing under center) was different, it took some adjusting, but it worked for us on the scoreboard.” To read remainder of story, click link below:
