Munchick won't coach Holly Springs softball

June 29, 2012
Tri-Nine Conference

Jill Munchick was thankful for the leadership of her four seniors last year. She said couldn’t have made it through the Holly Springs softball season without them – not with the persistent back pain that kept her from setting up the field or lifting equipment.

With the season over, back problems persisting and surgery looming, Munchick resigned as softball coach earlier this month.

It was a difficult decision, she said. The Golden Hawks had won 4A East titles in both of her seasons as coach, posting a 47-8 overall record.

“It just got to a point where physically I couldn’t do it any more,” Munchick said. “There would be good days and bad days. There would be a week where I would feel great and feel like I (could) do everything I needed to do. And there might be a week where I could hardly bend over.”
