May 15, 2012
Tri-Nine Conference

CHAPEL HILL - East Chapel Hill got nine goals and two assists from junior midfielder Sidney Holman and avenged a quarterfinal loss to Apex in last year’s NCHSAA girls lacrosse tournament with a 14-9 victory over the Cougars in a second-round playoff game Tuesday at Wildcat Stadium.

East Chapel Hill (10-5) jumped out to a 4-0 lead off three goals in the opening minutes from Holman, but Apex rallied to get within 7-4 at halftime and tied the game midway through the second half. Mia Castagnero made it a 7-7 game with 16:22 left in the game, when she scored her third straight goal.

The score was 8-8 after a goal by Madeline Bromley off a free position with 14:45 remaining.
