Green Hope, Apex strongest in girls lacrosse

April 3, 2012
Tri-Nine Conference

The first season where all Tri-Nine girls lacrosse programs were grouped in the same conference hasn’t changed the league pecking order much. Green Hope and Apex are still the teams to beat.

And after Green Hope’s defeat of Apex on March 9, it is the undefeated Falcons who are in the driver’s seat.

“We have a great core. We have three really strong captains who are around the midfield and have taken the younger players under their wing,” said Green Hope coach Abby Mead. “We have these three captains who act as coaches in practice.”

How close each team is to finishing its conference schedule – the final regular-season games are scheduled for May 1 – varies, depending on the number of rain-outs. Some teams are only halfway through their league schedule as they enter spring break, while others are two-thirds done.
