Moore, Stenkvist win twice

February 21, 2012
Tri-Nine Conference

CARY - The Tri-Nine Conference boasted some of the state's top swimmers in Saturday's N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A swimming and diving state championships. Their impact was made known, even if none of the teams were in serious contention for top honors.

Panther Creek's Henriette Stenkvist ended her high school career with seven gold medals as she won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.48 and the 100 backstroke in 54.73.

The senior's two victories keyed the Catamounts to their highest-ever finish in the state championship, coming in runner-up with 190 points. The day could have been much better for PC, but two relay teams were disqualified in prelims. With a maximum of 80 points gone, it was a crippling blow to the team.
