Anoka wins rematch with Andover. May 13, 2014

After losing the third game of the season to Andover, Anoka’s record stood at 1-2. Since that loss, Anoka has rattled off 11 straight wins for a 12-2 record. Tonight’s rematch took place in Andover with a temperature of 54 degrees and a northwest wind blowing from third to first at about 15mph. After no score in the first, Andover drew first blood in the bottom on the second on a triple and a nice push bunt that deflected off the Anoka third baseman’s glove. With Andover up 1-0 to start the third, Anoka mounted a two out rally. Makayla Zimmer got the rally started with a 2 out triple. Taylor Chell drove her in with a single. Megan Lindenfelser scored Taylor with a double and Morgan Paaverud jacked a homerun to make it 4-1 Anoka. After a one out single in the bottom on the third, the Andover base runner attempted to take second when the ball got away from LeeAnna Nevin behind the plate but LeeAnna recovered the ball quickly throwing down to Megan Lindenfelser for the out. A strike out ended the third. In the top of the fourth Alyssa Wicks hit a one out single but was left stranded. Andover led off the bottom of the fourth with a single but a line shot to Dayja Rosario followed by a quick throw to Morgan Paaverud completed the double play and Andover was held scoreless again. In the fifth inning, Taylor Chell hit a double and Megan Lindenfelser launched a ball into the holding pond behind the fence in right center for a 6-1 Anoka advantage. In Andover’s half on the fifth, their leadoff got on base after being hit by a pitch. Andover added another base runner on a single. After recording a strike out, Anoka was able to get a ground out and made it double play as the runner scored from third but the trailing runner was thrown out at third when Morgan Paaverud fired the ball across the diamond to Dayja Rosario for the tag out. With no scoring in the sixth, Taylor Chell hit a single to start the seventh and Megan Lindenfelser followed with a double scoring Taylor. Morgan Paaverud hit a double scoring Megan. Morgan scored when Amber Elliott hit a ball to the third baseman and the third baseman missed the throw to first allowing Amber to advance to third. Amber scored on a throw from the catcher to first on an Alyssa Wicks’ swinging bunt making the score 10-2. Andover hit a double in the seventh but was unable to score.
